When we imagined Remote Workers for Remote Villages, we said: let’s start with real stories. No filters, no polished storytelling. Just professionals who chose to work remotely from places often labelled “peripheral,” but that are becoming increasingly central.
On July 29, the pilot episode aired live on LinkedIn and Substack, supported by Kinsta and in collaboration with NOMAG, ITS Journal, and Smart Working Magazine. The hosts, Matteo Cerri and Carlo Daniele, also happen to be the creators of the series—and living proof that the shift is already happening.
Our guests were:
Piero Aiello, WordPress and React developer from Messina, working with international clients while staying local;
Franco Farnedi, tech entrepreneur from Cesena, cybersecurity expert and founder of a local coworking space;
Maurizio Argoneto, CTO of Publisys based in Pignola (Basilicata), community builder and tech conference organiser;
Luigi Teschio, Automattic software engineer from Torre del Greco, passionate about open source and developer mentoring.
What did we learn? That remote work is not just about tools—it’s about conscious choices, community ecosystems, and local roots with global connections.
We talked about benefits and challenges, but also about how powerful it is to live where you feel you belong—while staying connected to the world.
The audience was engaged and active, sharing questions and personal stories in real-time. Proof that this conversation is timely, widespread, and very real.
And this was just the beginning.
