The Nomag Pulse #1 - Welcome to the journey!
Different lives. Different paths. One shared drive to live more intentionally, more connected, and more freely
Hello, fellow Nomads đ
Welcome to the very first issue of The Nomag Pulse â your weekly dose of stories, nomadic wisdom, and soulful wanderings.
We created this space not just to share destinations, Wi-Fi tips, or the best coworking cafĂ©s â but to honor you. The movers, the re-inventors, the bold, the quiet rebels who chose freedom over familiarity.
Today, weâre celebrating the launch of this newsletter with five powerful stories from within our community. Different lives. Different paths. One shared drive to live more intentionally, more connected, and more freely.
Letâs dive in.
1. â5 Years Ago Covid Changed Work. I Changed My Life.â
Cristina E. â Copywriter | Digital Nomad | Budget-conscious, freedom-loving human đNow in: Bali
âWe earn less. We probably spend more. But we are free.â
Cristinaâs story begins with the pandemic, but itâs really about what came after. When the world hit pause, she and her husband hit reset. Leaving behind the security of office jobs and suburban routines, they took their copywriting and consulting skills on the road. Today, they bounce between Asia and Europe, keeping their work lean and their lives full.
Cristina admits itâs not always easy â budgeting, healthcare, slow Wi-Fi days â but nothing beats the richness of watching a Balinese sunrise while editing a clientâs blog.
âWe traded commutes for curiosity. And every day feels more like ours.â
2. âFrom Birmingham to Romania: A British Designer's Unexpected Pivotâ
Hannah R. â UX/UI Designer | Introverted Nomad | Tea Lover đNow in: Cluj, Romania
âI didnât leave to âfind myself.â I left to stop losing myself.â
Hannah never saw herself as the adventurous type. Quiet, detail-oriented, and fiercely loyal to her local pub and rainy walks, she worked her way up in a London agency. But somewhere along the climb, she lost the joy.
A freelance gig led her to Sofia, then Bucharest, and now sheâs based in Cluj-Napoca, Romania. What was meant to be a 3-month escape became a whole new chapter.
âEastern Europe surprised me. Itâs raw, beautiful, affordable â and honest.â
She still works UK hours, designs for clients back home, and drinks proper English tea every morning â but her evenings are spent hiking, writing, or having wine with a rotating cast of international friends.
âThe freedom isnât just about where I am. Itâs about who Iâm becoming.â
3. âI Was 62 When I Packed Up for Costa Ricaâ
Raymond T. â Retired Principal | Late Bloomer Nomad | Salsa Enthusiast đNow in: Puerto Viejo, Costa Rica
âRetirement didnât scare me. Regret did.â
Raymond had a comfortable life in Michigan â pension, kids, a house full of memories. But after years of caregiving, school politics, and Midwest winters, he found himself asking: Is this it?
After one solo trip to Costa Rica, he was hooked. Three months later, he was living there full-time.
Now, he takes Spanish lessons, teaches local kids part-time, and dances most nights under the stars.
âI donât have a five-year plan. I have a five-minute one: enjoy this mango, feel the sun, smile at strangers.â
His favorite part?
âPeople stop to chat with me. Life isnât rushed. And Iâve never felt more alive.â
4. âBorn in Kenya. Remote in Chiang Mai. Rooted Everywhere.â
Aisha W. â UI/UX Designer | First-Gen Nomad | Global Soul đNow in: Thailand
âMy parents migrated for survival. I migrate for freedom.â
Aisha grew up in Nairobi, the daughter of two entrepreneurs who sacrificed everything to give her access to education. She studied IT, worked corporate jobs, and always sent money home â until one day, she realized she could do more while doing less.
She went freelance, learned everything about product design on YouTube, and moved to Chiang Mai.
âHere, I spend less, save more, and live fuller. My parents were scared at first. Now they brag to their friends.â
She wakes early, prays, works from a local coworking space, and mentors African girls in tech online.
âI live with purpose. Thatâs the true luxury.â
5. âAn Italian Soul Who Fell in Love with... Italyâ
Luca M. â Video Editor | Nomad At Home | Espresso Addict
âI had to leave Italy to appreciate it. Now I travel it like a foreigner â in the best way.â
Luca, born in Milan, spent years chasing freelance gigs in Berlin, Barcelona, and Bali. But after a decade abroad, something pulled him back â not to settle, but to explore his own country like a traveler would.
He now slow-travels across Italy with his partner, creating cinematic video content for tourism boards and sustainable brands.
âWe live month-to-month in places people dream of vacationing in. Calabria, Puglia, now Sicily. Itâs like discovering a forgotten love.â
He still works internationally, but shoots locally â and deeply.
âItaly isnât just where I was born. Itâs where I chose to live â on my own terms.â
